What we do

The Alternative Development Knowledge Network (ADKN) provides knowledge-sharing and communication tools to people working in the worlds of sustainable highland development and development-lead drug control. ADKN helps people working in these areas to become more knowledgeable by giving them to access the shared knowledge and experience of their peers in highland and drug-crop producing regions over the world.

ADKN’s activities are aimed at creating a shared knowledge-base about the development of drug-crop producing and highland regions. To help to organize this knowledge, ADKN promotes and supports ‘Communities of Practice’. At the moment, there are two ADKN Communities of Practice, the Sustainable Agriculture community and the Marketing and Commercialization community. Over time, more communities will be added.

ADKN is both a community of people and a set of tools and systems. As a set of tools and systems ADKN allows people to communicate and disseminates information. As a community, we identify, develop and manage knowledge-sharing projects.
