Colleagues, Can I suggest that each of you works on just one case study from their country? If we already have a good case study (e.g. Colombia, Thailand, Vietnam, Bolivia, China) we can work on improving it. If we don’t have a proper study, we can create it. I would suggest- Colombia- Red Ecolsierra Peru- Oro Verde Bolivia- El Ceibo Thailand- Mae Hae Afghanistan- Chak/Wardak Vietnam- Mok Cham Tea Co Laos- TBD by Joost Nepal- TBD by Tirtha China- TBD by Koko For a process I propose we check the existing case study and try to add more information in each of the four areas, i.e. 1. Background (history, more community background, more geographical/topographic information) 2. Production system (detail on production characteristics, area, methods and process from field upto distribution) 3. Organization (more detail on organizational structure and descision making process, more financial data if possible, e.g. a time series of revenues) 4. Marketing (more details on distribution, characteristics of customers, market conditions, branding, labelling, packing, promotion, sales mechanisms) Comments?

Marcus, do i have to pick up any good case inside nepal for its study?

Tirtha, it would be good to get a Nepal case study from you. It can be anywhere, but it is always helpful to look for something that will make it stand out. E.g.
- Unusual background conditions
- Good community organization
- Interesting method of market access
- Novel processing method
- Unusual levels of success (or failure!)

Also you need to balance this with ease of getting information. No point in chosing the community in Nepal that has the most successful marketing if you only have sketchy information about it!
