Welcome to The Alternative Development Knowledge Network
The Alternative Development Knowledge Network (ADKN) provides knowledge-sharing and communication tools for people working in rural development. ADKN helps people working in this area to become more knowledgeable by giving them to access the shared knowledge and experience of their peers. ADKN’s activities are aimed at creating a shared knowledge-base about rural development, especially in remote, drug-crop producing and highland regions.
In conventional methods of knowledge sharing, organizations publish their documents on their websites. A lot of useful information can be gained, but the process is fixed and inflexible, and users can only participate by downloading or reading. ADKN is an alternative way of sharing development knowledge. As well as allowing users to access the knowledge of others, ADKN allows users to contribute their own knowledge. To do this, ADKN provides users with simple but powerful tools for uploading documents, making announcements, having discussions and making their own web pages.
To help to organize this knowledge-sharing, ADKN categorizes information into communities. At the moment, there are two ADKN information communities: the Sustainable Agricultural Production community and the Marketing and Commercialization community. In the future, more communities will be added.
